design vision

The Northwest climate is so forgiving that we face a bewildering array of plant choices. We can help clarify your vision before the shovel hits the dirt. This is the time to get it right, and a professional design allows you to avoid costly mistakes. Sprout’s designs utilize a diversity of plants, many with four-season interests, low-water and fertilizer needs, and minimal maintenance. When appropriate, we incorporate edible plants, many with ornamental qualities. Our designs blend visually-striking elements that express your tastes and personality with ecological sensitivity.

Design philosophy

Our philosophy of sustainable design reflects common sense. We believe that gardens should thrive without excessive use of herbicides and chemical fertilizers and without the need for over-watering and backbreaking labor. Successful gardens rely on healthy soils, plants adapted to the site, and well-considered plant placement. Sprout embraces these fundamentals in every design.

design process

During the initial meeting at your property, we will discuss your design ideas, specific concerns, your budget, and a timeline. After we take photos and measurements, we will be able to begin the conceptual phase of the project. Once the conceptual design is complete, we will arrange a meeting for final approval before proceeding with the final design.

Your final hand-drawn garden design will be clearly-labeled, in full color and will include a corresponding plant list with notes. It will function as the template for creating the garden of your dreams: a happy, healthy, and harmonious space in which to relax, entertain and connect to nature.
